The Danish Kennel Club invite you to the first official FCI World Championships in Freestyle and Heelwork to Music on the 25th-27th of June 2010 in Herning, Denmark in conjunction with the World Dog Show 2010.
National Team:
Each participating country can enter a National Team consisting of three Heelwork To Music and three Freestyle handlers (dogs and handlers can participate in multiple events).
Only dogs with an FCI pedigree or pedigree recognized by the FCI can participate.
Each participating team can have a named reserve (travelling or non-travelling) in each discipline. The reserve will only compete should one of the other participants on the team withdraw a dog from competition at the latest during the morning briefing on the day of the competition.
Should a country enter less than three competitors in a discipline, they will still be able to compete for a place in the individual finals.
Programme:
Friday the 25th of June 2010:
Team competitions in Heelwork to Music and qualifiers for the Individual Final.
All competitors perform their routines and are judged. The results count towards the team competition. At the same time the results are qualifying for the Individual Final.
Saturday the 26th of June 2010:
Team competitions in Freestyle and qualifiers for the Individual Final.
All competitors perform their routines and are judged. The results count towards the team competition. At the same time the results are qualifying for the Individual Final.
Sunday the 27th of June 2010:
Individual HTM Final and Individual Freestyle Final.
The ten teams that have acquired the highest score in each of the disciplines qualify for the Individual Finals (10 Heelwork to Music and 10 Freestyle).
World Champion Title:
Team World Champions in Heelwork To Music will be the country whose 3 competitors have the combined highest scores from Friday’s competition.
Team World Champions in Freestyle will be the country whose 3 competitors have the combined highest scores from Saturday’s competition.
Individual World Champion in Heelwork to Music will be the competitor with the combined highest score from Friday’s qualifying heat and the Sunday’s Final.
Individual World Champion in Freestyle will be the competitor with the combined highest score from Saturday’s qualifying heat and the Sunday’s Final.
There will be prizes for the 3 best Teams and Individual competitors in each discipline.
Competition grounds:
The competition will take place indoors on carpet in a well defined competition ring. The size of the ring and the judges seating will be announced no later than 2 months before the competition.

Head judge all 3 days: Karen Sykes, England
Karen Sykes is recognized worldwide as a judge, trainer and competitor. Karen won the HTM Final at Crufts 2008 and has been at the top of British Heelwork to Music and Freestyle for the past 10 years.
The Danish Heelwork To Music Committee and the Danish Kennel Club are proud to present her as head judge at this inaugural event – the 1st official FCI World Championships in Freestyle and Heelwork To Music.

ReplyDeleteShouldn't it read "the ten COMPETITORS that have acquired...", when "team" is the term being used for "all competitors of a country"?
Team' is in this context meant as in 'dog and handler team'. The rules including our thoughts regarding the individual finals were written already back in 2007 and sent to the FCI for approval. The wording used back then is the same as we are using today to make sure we are not changing what the FCI has approved.
ReplyDeleteWe have later used the term 'team' for the national teams and 'competitor' or 'participant' for the dog and handler teams.
We do hope the invitation is still understandable.
You are right - the individual final in each section is for the 10 best individual dog and handler teams/competitors.
In the final, will the scores from the first perfomances be included in the final result or will the competiors start at zero points again?
