Currency

The currency in Denmark is Danish Kroner (DKK), which is divided into 100 øre. The approximate exchange rate is DKK8 to £1. Danish kroner notes are issued in DKK 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 denominations. Coins are issued in units of 50 øre, and in DKK 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20. As 50 øre is the smallest coin, amounts lower, or between 25 and 50 øre will be rounded down or up accordingly, e.g. DKK 37.35 is DKK 37.50, and DKK 37.15 is Dkk 37.00 etc.

Denmark is not part of the EURO-monetary system although major shops may show prices both in Danish kroner and Euro (€). Euro is treated as foreign currency in line with, for instance, UK Sterling. Although some shops may agree to accept Euro as payment, they are not obliged to do so. Any change given may be in Danish kroner or Euro.

Electrical Outlet used in Denmark

Electrical outlets in Denmark use a two-prong plug typical for continental Europe. As Denmark strays from the Scandinavian norm, make sure the adapter you buy is suitable especially for Denmark (some outlets are deeper than European standard.) Look for plug types C, F, or K, they have the correct size of two round prongs.
It's not too hard to find out what kind of plug or converter you need for electrical outlets in Denmark. Most laptops will automatically work with 220-230 volts (check the back of your laptop for power input markings.) That means, you'll only need an adapter to change the shape of your power plug to fit into an outlet in Denmark.

Score Sheets

This is what the World Championship score sheets will look like (click on the picture to enlarge it).

Unfortunately the Danish Kennel Club web-system has not been updated since HTM was just approved as a sport in Denmark and the score sheets do still look as they did, when we had the first set of rules and marked routines differently. Also the score sheets will be in Danish, but hopefully this explanation will help you understand your marks after all.

When you look at the score sheets, there will be 3 sections: Udførelse, sværhedsgrad and fortolkning and under each you have lots of little ‘sub-sections’. Please ignore those! They are ‘left-overs’ from the old Danish rules and are no longer used!

All you have to think of are the 3 main sections, which are:
Udførelse – which can be translated to presentation.
Sværhedsgrad – which can be translated to degree of difficulty.
Fortolkning – which can be translated to Musical Interpretation.
You can have up to 10 points in each section.

There is room on the score sheets for the judges to write comments, but you should not expect them to do so. The comment boxes are mainly used in the starters/novice classes at Danish competitions, for the judges to give advise on how to improve the routine or encouragement to inexperienced handlers.

Weather Forecast

The weather in Denmark changes from day to day. It can be sunny and very hot one day and cold, windy and rainy the next.
I guess some of you will start packing soon and it will be advisable to bring clothes for all kinds of weather, but if you do want to limit your luggage a little bit, then check out this link to get the weather forecast in English closer to your departure.

If you want the more local forecast for Herning, then click West Jutland or East Jutland in the menu to the left. Herning is in the middle of Jutland (by the '1' on the map) right between West and East, so it is hard to say which forecast will be more exact for where we will be.

Letters sent Friday

The letters with information, dog and handler tickets etc. for the participants were sent from the Danish Kennel Club Friday morning the 11th. It should be with you in the middle of next week. The letters have been sent to the handlers - not the team managers.

If for some reason your letter does not arrive, please contact Hanne Madsen from the Kennel Club hama@dansk-kennel-klub.dk

Running Orders

Team Competitions Friday and Saturday:
The running order within your team must be handed in to the Show Manager in writing at the briefing. It is for the individual team to decide in which order team members want to compete. The teams’ running order will be decided by a random draw.

All handlers running first for their country will compete in the drawn order, and then all handlers running second for their country will compete in the drawn order and finally all handlers running third for their country.

Example:
Country A is represented by Hans, Olga and Simon
Country B is represented by Martin
Country C is represented by Alice, John and Sofia
Country D is represented by Marcus, Kate and Jill

Country A meets for a team meeting to discuss the matter. They decide that their running order within the team should be: Olga first, then Hans and Simon last.

Country B is only represented by one handler/dog.

In Country C it is the team manager, who decides on the running order within the team. She evaluates the team members' strengths and weaknesses and decides that the best running order will be John first, then Alice and finally Sofia.

Country D can't get to an agreement, but a random draw within the team puts Jill first, Marcus second and Kate third.

At the World Championship Team Briefing Country A, C and D all hand in a piece of paper with their team's running order. Country B hands in a note saying that they only have one dog and handler team.

Then the 4 countries' team managers are called forward to draw their country's running order. Country A draws second, Country D draws first, Country B draws third and Country C draws fourth.
The running order will then be:
  1. White Dog
  2. Jill, Country D
  3. Olga, Country A
  4. Martin, Country B
  5. John, Country C
  6. Marcus, Country D
  7. Hans, Country A
  8. Alice, Country C
  9. Kate, Country D
  10. Simon, Country A
  11. Sofia, Country C
Individual Final Sunday:
The running order will be decided by a random draw, which will take place immediately after the competitions on Friday and Saturday at the prize-giving presentation.
